IMPA's AGM with Jill Garner - Victorian Government Architect

  • Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre 251 Faraday Street Carlton, VIC, 3053 Australia (map)

Join us for our AGM, where we will hear from the newly appointed Victorian Government Architect, Jill Garner, about all things planning.

We very much look forward to hearing her thoughts on the future of planning in Melbourne, and to a robust discussion about our city's challenges and opportunities.

Refreshments will be provided.

Please note - the meeting will be held in Multipurpose Room 2, Level 1 of the Kathleen Syme Community Centre.

About our guest speaker

Jill Garner is the co-founder of Garner Davis Architects, a St Kilda-based architecture studio. The studio, which has an extensive portfolio of work ranging from public buildings to private works, won the international design competition for the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre in 1995.  Ms Garner has also taught design, architectural history and contemporary theory at RMIT and Melbourne University.

According to the Australian Financial Review, Ms Garner will take “greater responsibility in key infrastructure projects such as the state’s 50 level crossing removals, but she will also decide which large development applications are to be scrutinised by a strengthened design review panel.”

Ms Garner replaces Geoffrey London as the Victorian Government Architect who stepped down last year after two three-year terms.
